PCI 3.0 to 3.1:A step-by-step summary of new requirements for internet merchants
The potential of e-commerce is so powerful, it succeeded in bringing together major credit card corporations (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, JCB International and Discover Financial Services) in 2006 and they agreed to implement the payment card industry data security standard (PCI DSS) for online threat management during transaction processing.
The threats continue to evolve continuously and so the standard to protect card companies, merchants and consumers need to keep pace. PCI DSS has in fact launched its fifth version (3.1) in April 2015 to ensure the standard stays a step ahead of the threat curve.
